Carys blows bubbles in a park near her school. Like millions of children in the UK, she is in danger of breathing toxic air.

You can't see it, but right here in the UK there is a dangerous threat to children's health that can no longer be ignored: toxic air.

Across 86% the UK, children are growing up breathing hazardous levels of toxic air. It stunts lungs, increases risk of asthma and pneumonia, and children breathing toxic air are four times more likely to have reduced lung function in adulthood. Unless urgent action is taken, children's health and futures are at risk.

Under the UK Government's current plans, toxic air in the UK could stay at harmful levels for another 10 years, with a potential health and social care cost of £5.3bn by 2035. Together we can change this. Join us in calling for:

  1. Targets that reduce toxic air in the UK to legal levels recommended by the World Health Organisation.
  2. An action plan across UK Government Departments, from DEFRA to the Department of Health and Social Care and the Department for Transport, that protects children and young people from toxic air.
  3. A Little Lungs Fund for local authorities to pay for changes to keep children safe from toxic air.

Every child has the right to health. Every child has the right to live, learn and play in a clean and safe environment.

Join us and fight for funding to protect children from toxic air.
